2024 Acura ADX Redesign, Release Date, Specs

2024 Acura ADX Redesign, Release Date, Specs – Acura is developing its first battery-electric vehicle on the Ultium platform. It also has batteries from General Motors, parent company Honda announced on Friday.

It will be a massive vehicle, most likely a crossover, and will go on sale in 2024. Honda will also offer an Ultium-powered vehicle for the 2024 model year, which will undoubtedly be a crossover.

Acura’s production is expected to begin in early 2022 at GM’s Spring Hill Manufacturing factory in Spring Hill, Tennessee, which will also start producing the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq electric crossover.

The Honda is expected to begin manufacturing at GM’s Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico, where the Chevrolet Blazer and Equinox are built.

Apart from the fact that Acura has already filed a trademark application for the name and that the Ultium platform supports a variety of drivetrain configurations, little is known about the ADX model. Because Acuras are more sporty than Hondas, We’re betting Acura will forego the front-wheel-drive long-range option in favor of a triple- or dual-motor configuration.

In terms of proportions, we expect it will be comparable to Acura’s best-selling crossover, the MDX. Additionally, it will compete against the next generation of EV crossovers, such as the Polestar 4 and the next-generation all-electric Porsche Macan.

By the relationship with General Motors, The Acura ADX does not need to be designed from the start due to the cooperation with GM. It is projected to hit the market in 2024 if all goes well. This is approximately a year later than the competition, maintaining the Acura brand’s leadership position in the market.

Acura’s version of Honda’s GM-built electric SUV is expected to be called the ADX. According to Autoblog, Acura’s parent company, Honda, recently filed a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on December 22, 2021. The application was accepted a few days later. 2024 acura ADX Redesign

Although the name of Acura’s forthcoming electric crossover is not specific, it would likely fit alongside the MDX and RDX nameplates. 2024 acura ADX Redesign

So, it’s unknown whether Acura would utilize the ADX designation exclusively for their utterly electric vehicle, as Autoblog reports that the file does not mention an electric powertrain. The brand now offers two crossover models, and it’s no secret that the manufacturer could benefit from expanding its non-electric crossover lineup.

Honda recently revealed plans to add hybrid powertrains to its existing best-selling models and concentrate efforts on developing battery-electric vehicles for Honda/Acura buyers. 2024 acura ADX Redesign

Early indications suggest that Acura’s electric SUV will resemble the Honda Prologue, which will arrive in Canadian dealerships in 2024. Both EVs will be built on a global EV platform powered by GM’s Ultium batteries; this is the same technology that powers the Cadillac Lyriq. Acura’s appearance and interior design will likely remain distinct despite the similar battery pack and technology features, reflecting the luxury brand’s present aesthetic.

Agreement with General Motors

Honda secured an agreement with General Motors in early 2020 to source a pair of electric vehicles equipped with Ultium technology for North American sales. At the time, the automakers stated that GM would be responsible for manufacturing the cars. At the same time, Honda would be accountable for the design and tuning of the vehicles’ driving qualities. 2024 acura ADX Redesign

The Ultium platform can power a wide range of vehicle types, from tiny automobiles to substantial pickup trucks and SUVs, with outputs exceeding 1,000 hp. It makes its manufacturing debut in the 2022 GMC Hummer EV this fall. Ultium batteries are available in capacities ranging from 50 to 200 kilowatt-hours. The latter provides a range of more than 400 miles. 2024 acura ADX Redesign

Honda and GM have reinforced their relations in North America since their initial partnership. Additionally, last year, the two companies suggested an agreement on platform and powertrain sharing, research and development, purchasing, and linked services. Since 2013, the two manufacturers have also partnered on fuel cell technology.

Release Date and Price

Pricing correctly is critical. While we recognize that the cost of battery packs is reducing rapidly, EVs continue to be more expensive than conventional autos. This section is typically priced between $60,000 and $80,000. Acura is likely to be near the bottom of that range. 2024 acura ADX Redesign
